Magid wins Calder Prize

Congratulations to Jill Magid on receiving the 2017 Calder Prize, an award based in part on her Sept. 28, 2017, performance, Awaiting Alexander Calder, at the Whitney Museum. That work acts as prologue of sorts to Magid’s project with Fathomers, which is heating up now that The Proposal, a documentary within and about her extended multimedia project on the celebrated architect Luis Barragán, is nearly finished — and premiering next month at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Also of note: The two-carat blue diamond that Jill Magid created from Luis Barragán’s cremated remains is on view at the Hammer Museum, in Stories of Almost Everyone, now through May 6.
